The FAQ: Photography

Do you Travel?

I am based out of Madison, but willing to travel throughout Wisconsin. Inquire with me about the area & we can plan from there! No travel fees at this time.

How long have you been doing this?

I've been interested in photography since high school, but have recently been experimenting with it more and have become more comfortable with my camera in the last year.

How many photos do we get?

This all depends on the package you choose! Find package details in the Investment tab.

How do we get our photos?

You will be sent a link via email to view and download your entire gallery to your smartphone or computer. You can share your gallery with friends and family, as well as order prints at any time!

Whats your turn around time?

Depending on the package, turnaround time may vary. I try my best to have sneak peeks done same day, but full galleries may not be out until two to three weeks after your session.

How do we book you?

Fill out the form in the "Contact Me" tab!

What should we wear?

1. Many couples choose to do two outfits, one on the dressier side and one more relaxed and casual. This works great for up to three individuals.

2. Coordinating doesn’t mean “MATCHING”. Wearing the same color in a different shade is actually more ideal than trying to find the EXACT color. For example, I would avoid both wearing navy tops and khaki bottoms because it could potentially come across as being very uniformed! Instead put your man in a purple top and khaki bottoms and yourself in a purple bottom with a khaki top (maybe with a subtle pattern as a bonus!).

3. If one of you is wearing something with a lot of color and pattern, sometimes it’s best to have the other person wear a neutral to tone it down a bit.

5. Don’t over think it! Sometimes simple outfits are more flattering!

6. Make sure you are equal when it comes to how formal your outfit is.

7. Don’t be afraid to be yourself and wear something that is unique to YOU! It’s great to wear a dress with a cardigan, but if you have a unique style, be sure to show it off!

8. If you’re wearing plaid or other fun patterns, the bigger the pattern the better! However, it is true that larger plaid photographs better than tiny little checkered patterns. It would be better to have a solid dress shirt than a shirt with teeny tiny patterns.

9. Accessorize! Scarves, necklaces, belts… They can add so much to an outfit!

10. Be sure to wear something YOU are comfortable in as well as dressing for the weather. I never want clients to focus too much on whether they are too hot or too cold!

The FAQ: Graphic Design

What do you charge for your graphic design services?

Prices depend on many variants, but you can be sure you're getting a great value for your design package. Design jobs are charged by the hour. Typical graphic design projects are $40/hr. or a flat $90 for a small to medium setup job. If you have small changes you want made to files created by me, only ONE revision is free. If any revisions need to be made after your free one is used, it will be a fee of $20.

Is the artwork our property once paid for?

No, not the actual artwork files unless agreed upon in the proposal. However, ALL approved web images and high resolution images purchased are yours once the project is completed and paid for.

How will I receive my design project once it is finished?

A finish project is yours upon receipt of final payment. Your files will be sent to you via email. We will also keep copies of your project on file for late updates or should you lose your copy.

Do I get a vector file for my logo once created?

Yes, you get EPS (vector), jpeg, and png files. Our logo design can be used to complete stationary and brand marketing. This can include a business card, letterhead, graphics for websites, brochure design, etc.

How do I check on the progress of my design project during the design process?

Once a deposit is received, normal turnaround for a logo design is 7 - 14 days. We present the logos to the client at the black and white stage, then again at the color stage (if color is requested), and wait for final approval before we save all the files.

What is the client's involvement in the design?

As a small business and sole designer of Illuminated Canvas, I listen to my clients from the start. I encourage clients to bring any samples, color combinations, and ideas that may help me get an idea of style before starting the project. During the design process, as a client you will be asked to approve certain colors and fonts before work continues. Once the design is ready for release, we will submit a final proof for the client's approval before saving files. Once payment is made for design services, files will be delivered in various formats, or what is requested.

I need something designed yesterday. Are you able to help me?

I can usually accommodate to your rush job, depending on other projects I may have scheduled. However, a rush fee may be added. Contact me to work something out!
